JOHNSON CITY – More than 70 future teachers from East Tennessee State University are eyeing opportunities in the job market and recently had the chance to talk with principals from across the region about employment opportunities.
The Clemmer College’s Office of Educator Preparation recently held a Virtual Job Fair for the Class of 2020’s teacher candidates who graduate May 9. Representatives from eight school districts welcomed 75 ETSU students for the event.
Students had the opportunity to indicate the school systems where they were interested working. Each school district was assigned a Zoom breakout room, and eight 15-minute breakout sessions were offered.
“We have outstanding working relationships with all of our area districts, and these school systems provide experiential opportunities that are the foundation for the preparation of teachers,” said Laura Click, director of field experiences and residency for the Clemmer College. “This was a wonderful opportunity for the school districts to meet the students they have helped train and to engage in conversations about future employment opportunities.”
This was a collaborative event between the Office of Educator Preparation and University Career Services. For more information on ETSU’s educator preparation programs, visit https://www.etsu.edu/coe/educator-preparation/.
