Ben Ray Edwards, 86, of Johnson City, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1933 in Erwin to the late Dan W. and Berta Mae Tapp Edwards.
Ben served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived in Carter County for a number of years. He was a retired carpenter and loved to deer hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Leota Pearl Dugger Edwards, who passed away January 9, 2020; two sisters, Lois Cannon and JoAnn Pierce; and two brothers, Glen and Leon Edwards.
Survivors include his children, Keith Ray Edwards, Tony Wayne (Gayle) Edwards, Timothy Brian (Sharon) Edwards and Jeffery Todd (Sandy) Edwards; seven grandchildren, Holly, Jennifer, Lauren, Logan, Kassidy, Walker and Dalton; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard (Joan) Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.
The interment will be Monday, May 11, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home Sunday afternoon between noon and 5 p.m. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home and the staff of the James H.
