MEMPHIS (AP) — A Tennessee man has been charged with starting a house fire that led to a person’s death, officials said Monday.
The Memphis Fire Department said 56-year-old Jerry Sanders was charged with aggravated arson after the blaze Sunday night on Gerard Street.
The victim’s name was not immediately available but authorities said he died after being rushed to a hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. An official cause of death is still pending.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Sanders has hired a lawyer.
