Larry Wayne White Sr., 76, of Johnson City, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord and his precious wife on Thursday, June 4, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at his residence. Larry was born in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Samuel Toby White and Ama Pearl Oliver White. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kay Wanda White.
Larry was a good man, who served his country faithfully in the Army National Guard. He was well liked and very well known, above all he was a kind and loving husband and father. Larry enjoyed football, basketball and going out to eat with his family. His greatest joy was his family and spending time with them as much as he could.
Those left to cherish Larry’s memory include his sons, Larry White Jr. and Samuel White; his daughters, Darlene Phillips and husband Wayne, Brenda Storey and Shelia Phillips and husband Blaine; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Larry Wayne White Sr. will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Chaplain Steve Spell giving a eulogy. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, in the Spears Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the Spears Cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday. The family would like to especially thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Amedysis Hospice for the exceptional care and love shown to Larry and his family during his illness.
