Harold Daniel VanHuss, 76, Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Brown and Eliza (Garrison) VanHuss.
Harold was a graduate of Hampton High School and attended East Tennessee State University. He was retired from Advance Auto Parts. He was a member and Elder of Buffalo Valley Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Wilkinson VanHuss, who passed away June 17, 2005; a daughter, Laura Elaine Spears, March 4, 2020; and his siblings, Florence Blevins, Infant Mary Belle VanHuss, John VanHuss, Ford VanHuss, Margaret Doherty and Haskiel “Hack” VanHuss.
Survivors include his sister, Hazel Marion, Maryville, and brother, K.S. “Dick” VanHuss, Elizabethton; his step-children, Christa (Lynn) Haynes, Kingsport, Randy (Letha) Lane, Gray, Greg (Loretta) Lane, Jonesborough, David (Kristia) Brown, Elizabethton, and Sheri Phillips, Elizabethton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Barbara VanHuss.
The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Roland Whittemore, minister, officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of Buffalo Valley Christian Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew McCannon, Danny Doherty, Jeff VanHuss, Walter VanHuss and Jimmy Marion. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home Friday until 2 p.m. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2:20 p.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
