Henry Edward Grindstaff, age 74, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2020, from his residence. Henry was born in Elizabethton to the late John Nolan Grindstaff and Effie Grindstaff.
Henry retired from Nuclear Fuel Services as an inspector and was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. He served his country as a United States Air Force veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. Henry loved to build bird houses, woodworking, flower arranging, camping, and just being outdoors.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Rosalee Oaks and husband Terry, of Elizabethton; a nephew, Ryan Oaks and wife Sarah, also of Elizabethton; a niece, Amanda Little and husband Michael, of Elizabethton; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; a special step-granddaughter, Amber Henson; one special step-grandson, Kevin Crowe; three step-children, Marcella Widner, Johnny Harrison, and Amy Harrison; his step-grandchildren, John B Harrison, Hailey Harrison, Cody Crowe, and Kayla Crowe-Potter; along with step-great-grandchildren, Grace Henson and Josie.
A service to honor the life of Henry Edward Grindstaff will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 2, 2020, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Reverend David Foster and Reverend Roger Haley, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Debra Woods. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday.
The graveside service will follow in the Vester Grindstaff Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Active pallbearers will be Owen Grindstaff, Dwight Proffitt, Ryan Oaks, Nathaniel Oaks, T. J. Little, and Michael Little. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
