David F. Tucker Jr., 97, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Hillview Health Center. He was born June 27, 1923 in West Jefferson, N.C., to the late David F. Tucker Sr. and Callie Caroline Mullis Tucker. He had lived in Elizabethton since 1926.
Dave was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and then attended the University of Tennessee Law School, graduating in 1953. Dave was in practice from 1953 to 1985. He was last associated with the Firm of Tucker & LaPorte.
Dave served as a Carter County Attorney from 1953 through 1985 and General Sessions Court Judge starting in 1958. He was a hunter; fisherman; wrote short stories; a welder; a Philosopher; and an arm chair mechanic. Dave was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Richard, Hunter and Bryan Tucker, and three sisters, Helen Smith, Ollie Mae Rosenbaum and Lesie Murphy.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Parlier Tucker, and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Carter County Bar Association and his friends of Watauga Lake. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at 871 N.
