Dustin Lee Baker announced that he will be running to retain his Constable position in the upcoming August 6th Election.
Baker, a native of Elizabethton, is the son of David Baker, a longtime employee of Coca Cola and Dr. Enuf, and Kathy Baker, who worked for Levi Strauss & Company in Elizabethton.
He is the grandson of Bobby Blair who was employed at North American Rayon Corporation and also owned and operated Blair Stone and Marble in the Southside community, and, Mae Blair, a homemaker and a respected longtime member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Elizabethton.
Baker received his education in the Elizabethton City Schools, graduating from Elizabethton High School in 1999.
He attended East Tennessee State University, earning his B.A. in Psychology. He continued his studies in The Duncan School of Law at Lincoln Memorial University earning a Masters of Education in Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution in 2015.
Following the completion of his Master’s degree, Baker became a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator for both civil and family cases.
Baker has an extensive work history which includes being commissioned to work in security and investigations for Homeland Security (FEMA). In addition, he has acted as a first responder through major hurricanes and catastrophic events doing diplomatic security, search and rescue, and asset protection.
He also holds an Armed Security License for the State of Tennessee, which has enabled him to pursue his passion for protecting people and providing safety for his clients, which also includes celebrities.
He is currently the Head of Security at The Camp for the hit television show The Walking Dead.
Baker has maintained his residence in Carter County his entire life and has been a longtime supporter and advocate for his community and local law enforcement.
Since being appointed Constable, Baker has willingly given his time to respond during the Covid-19 epidemic, delivering food and supplies to those who were in need, working as volunteer security for Happy Valley High Schools prom, and continues to build his outreach program to be of service for those in Carter County in need of assistance.
When questioned in regard to his motivation to represent his district as Constable, he responded, “I feel that it is our responsibility as people to be available to those in need and to protect what we love, all while serving our family and community with pride.
‘Being from your hometown, I know how important this is to you. I have focused my career to revolve around being a servant to people, a protector if you will in some aspects, but more or less an individual who works hard for those in times of crisis.”
