Charles Howard Hughes, 69, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was the son of the late Howard “Bud” Hughes and Betty Manning Hughes.
Charlie was of the Christian faith. He loved fishing, going to the lake, playing horseshoes and spending time with his buddies trading stories.
Charlie was a loving, stubborn and a strong-willed outdoorsman who always worked hard. He was a brick mason for 50 years. He owned his own business, Charles Hughes Masonry, for 18 years.
Those left to cherish his memories include his son, Travis Hughes of Elizabethton, Tenn.; two sisters, Susan Stephens and husband Sam of Austin, Texas, and Betsy Winters of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and nieces and nephews, Wes, Chelsey, Michelle and Katelin. Several great-nieces and great-nephews are also left to carry on his memory.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Karen Wright for her loving care and support during this difficult time.
