USDA Forest Service Officials at the Cherokee National Forest announced that starting August 17 Loop A at Rock Creek Campground in Greene County will be available to reserve online. The sites will be available for reservation online starting August 3, with reserved stays starting August 17. Reservations can be made through Recreation.gov, a national service utilized by land management agencies and the public across the country.
Rock Creek Campground visitors will no longer have to be concerned about finding a campsite when they arrive. Making a reservation will guarantee that a campsite is available in advance. Campsites can be reserved a minimum of 4 days and up to 6 months in advance.
The process is simple. National Forest visitors can go online to the Recreation.gov website and select the name of the facility they wish to reserve. Another option is to call the reservation service at 1-877-444-6777. There is a single charge of $9 per online reservation or $10 for phone reservations added to the camping fee. Payments are made by credit card or other money card.
All Rock Creek campsites can also be used on a first-come, first-served basis with payment on site, if the site is not reserved and for a recommended maximum of 2 days at a time. Reservations will be posted and maintained by the campground host and Forest Service employees.
