Johnny Carroll Matheson, born August 12, 1941 to the late Andy “Dud” Matheson and Eliza Oniel Matheson, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 17, 2020, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital due to complications with the COVID-19 virus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, G.W. Matheson and Richard Matheson; a step-son, Alan Isaacs; and a nephew, Forrest Sharpe.
No services are planned at this time due to CDC guidelines.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Matheson, of the home; sons, Mike (Kim) Matheson and Micky (Tammy) Matheson; twin brother, Jim “Jackie” Matheson; sisters, Shirley Sharpe and Marcella Stoughriggin; nephew, Jeff (Angie) Sharpe; step-daughters, Pamela (Doug) Pullin and Kim (David) McDonnell; his grandchildren, Tyler Matheson, Shanda Matheson, Jessie and Devin Whitehead, Michael and Tyler Presnell, Hannah McDonnell, Olivia and Natalie Pullen; his special great-grandson, Grayson Scott Matheson; and many special friends whom he loved dearly.
Mr. Matheson had been the owner of J & B Auto Paint/Supply, and most recently Matheson Sound Tech Recording. He had been part of several bands but most important the Brotherhood Quartet. He loved to play his Emmon Steel Guitar at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church and be a part of the Praise Choir. He enjoyed “Pickin” with his buddies at the Recording Studio. He loved everyone he met and had a pleasant attitude for all who came to record at the studio.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorial Funeral Chapel was in charge.
