Nave responds to Democrat attacks

To the Editor:

Thanks to Democrat Janet Hyder for her criticism and comments. Hyder said Republicans are responsible for the U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing abortion in 1973 and it was the right decision. Hyder made some good points. Republican President Nixon did make some bad appointments to the U.S. Supreme Court after the liberal/left Democrats controlling the U.S. Senate rejected his other more conservative appointments.

Back in the early 1970s Republicans were not as conservative as they are now. If enough conservative appointments like Robert Bork hadn’t got rejected by the liberal/left U.S. Senate we wouldn’t have Roe v. Wade, but each state would deal with abortion as the 10th Amendment requires. All of America is to blame for Roe v. Wade because the people could have demanded their senators impeach the Supreme Court justices that voted for it or could have gotten a constitutional amendment. However, fixing the blame is easier than fixing the problem. The best way to end abortion and fix the problem is to vote for Trump and Republicans. It’s important for Republicans to control the U.S. Senate because they are needed to confirm conservative judges.

Hyder also said, “The electoral college has been corrupted badly.” The electoral college hasn’t been corrupted, but the Democrat Party has. Back in 1973, homosexuality and wanting to change your gender both were considered a mental illness by the American Psychiatric Association. Today they are celebrated and they want their rights to be the highest. Democrats want taxpayers to pay for all abortions and pay for sex change operations even for children. Democrats want to force schools to allow students to use whatever bathroom they want to.

I will vote for Trump like over 80 percent of the people of Carter County will. I don’t vote for Trump because he will make America great but because Trump could delay the great judgement America is due. One Christian pastor said before the 2016 election America is near the end — morally, economically, militarily and sadly, spiritually. He said America is no longer the world’s leading power. That day is over.

However Trump could either slow that down — or possibly, with God’s help — reverse it. A pastor said, “The presidency of Barack Obama was God’s direct judgment upon America. But the presidency of Donald Trump is a judgment upon the world.” It appears God picked Trump not to make America great but to shake things up, give America more time to repent and to support Israel and fulfill Bible prophecies in Israel.

French historian Alexis de Tocqueville studied America in 1831 and wrote a book, “Democracy in America,” in 1835. Alexis de Tocqueville said, “America is great because America is good. When America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.” America has ceased to be good starting in 1973 with the approval of abortion and 2015 with approval of same-sex marriage. A Gallup poll in Spring 2017 showed America is more evil than ever before.

George Mason, the father of the Bill of Rights, speaking at the Constitutional Convention declared: “As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, so they must be in this. By an inevitable chain of causes and effects, Providence (God) punishes national sins by national calamities.”

Engraved on the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C. are these words of President Thomas Jefferson: “God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gifts of God? That they are not violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just and his justice cannot sleep forever.”

The late Billy Graham said, “Some of the strongest warnings about judgment in the Bible come from the lips of Jesus.” The Bible says in Psalm 37 the righteous (Christians) warn of judgment. Billy Graham said, “if God does not judge America, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” They didn’t have the Bible and the Bible says unto who much is given much is required. God has sent judgment many times most people didn’t recognize as judgment. New York was proudly number one in abortion last year and this year was number one in coronavirus deaths.

No election or president can make America great without the help of God and God never helps an evil country like America. Many Christians have said America is Babylon the great from Revelation 18. America will never be great again unless people stop self-worship and turn to Jesus in faith and believe in His blood, death, burial and resurrection as their only way to Heaven. God has sent a record number of  earthquakes with one recently even in North Carolina. Hebrews 12 says everything that can be shaken will be shaken. The prospects for America are shaky and America is living on borrowed time and so are you. Don’t delay giving your life to Jesus. Only Christians have an unshakable hope. Christians are “looking for the blessed hope and the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ!
