Coach Leslee Bradley’s Elizabethton Lady Cyclone volleyball team has been on a pretty decent win streak recently picking up wins over Chuckey-Doak and a scintalating 3-2 comeback win over the visiting Unicoi County Lady Blue Devils after trailing one set to two.
However, the Sullivan East Lady Patriots are known to play some exciting volleyball of their own and on Thursday evening at the Dyer Dome in Bluff City, the Lady Patriots had a bucket of cold water waiting on the visiting Lady Cyclones.
The Lady Patriots swept past the Lady Cyclones in three straight sets – 14-25, 15-25, and 24-26 to halt the Lady Cyclone win streak.
With the loss, Elizabethton fell to 5-7 on the season with four of those losses coming in the Cyclone Invitational.
Grace Martin and Cheyenne Poiroux led on the defensive side of the net for Elizabethton with 10 digs apiece while Brittany Kitchens added eight and Jayci Bowers seven.
Mattie Davis had strong play at the net recording a team-high six kills in the three sets. Davis was complimented by Poiroux, Kitchens and Kallista DePrimo who all came through with three kills apiece.
Davis was also strong on the serve as the junior recorded five aces in the contest followed by Kitchens with three.
The Lady Cyclones will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday when they visit a very good Sullivan South team and back that up with a trip to Gray on Wednesday to take on the power-hitting Lady ‘Blazers.
