Juanita Dingus Babb

Juanita Dingus Babb, age 90, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, from Hermitage Health Care of Elizabethton. Juanita was born in Letcher County, Kentucky to the late Ora and Maggie Watson Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Dingus; her second husband, Harold Babb; her brother, James “J.C.” Phillips; three sisters, Dorothy Ward, Nanny Gordon and Mildred Rose; and a son, David Dingus.
 Juanita retired as a cook at Unaka Elementary and enjoyed singing and gospel music. Most of all she loved her family and was always considered a workaholic because of her extraordinary work ethic.
 Those left to cherish her wonderful legacy include three sisters, Joyce Wagner, Imogene Nahoum and Loretta Wolfe; two grandsons, Christopher Dingus and Adam Dingus; three great-grandchildren (Adam’s children) Mason White, Nathan Dingus and Emily Dingus; two step-children, Jackie Pierce and Tim Babb; and three step-grandchildren (Jackie’s children) Phoebe, Jeremy and Justin; and a special mention to Juanita’s second husband, Harold’s family (her extended family) who also survive and cherish her memory.
 The family will receive friends between the hours of 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.
 A graveside service to celebrate Juanita’s life will follow at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Pastor Walker Robertson, officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Chris Dingus will serve as honorary pallbearer. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM.
 Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to Unaka Baptist Church, 1598 Highway 91, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
 Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County and Washington County are mandating that all citizens who live in or visit wear masks in public. In keeping in accordance with this mandate, all visitors to the funeral home and graveside service are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also, social distancing recommendations must be observed.
