To the Editor:
On August 30, @Oathkeepers declared civil war, via the following tweet, due to the death of a Trump supporter in Portland on August 29:
“The first shot has been fired brother (this was in response to an opposing position). Civil war is here, right now. We’ll give Trump one last chance to declare this a Marxist insurrection & suppress it as his duty demands.
“If he fails to do HIS duty, we will do OURS.
“‘against all enemies, foreign and domestic’ Stewart (Rhodes)”
In an article in the “New Republic” on August 31, Rhodes is quoted as saying that Trump should call up all of the National Guard units nationwide. I have not heard of another single person or organization going this far. Yet here we are.
