NASHVILLE (AP) — The National Science Foundation has awarded a $1 million grant to the Tennessee State University College of Engineering to recruit minority transfer students from regional community colleges.
The award will provide 45 scholarships over five years to students who want to earn bachelor’s degrees in engineering, math or computer science, the school said in a news release.
Keith Hargrove, dean of the College of Engineering, said funds will be available by Jan. 1.
Applications will be evaluated on a grade point average of at least 3.0, as well as on discipline and career goals, the release said.
