To move forward in life often requires making changes to give a better representation of who and what someone or something is because as times changes so does every facet of life.
Business is no different and with that philosophy in mind, the Main Street Elizabethton program that is tasked with promoting and representing downtown Elizabethton has been working over the last few months to come up with a new logo that will brand downtown Elizabethton that has evolved through the years.
“We kicked-off Main Street Elizabethton in October 2019 and used this past year to gather community input and guidance from TN Main Street to develop a new brand that best represents our downtown community,” said Courtney Washburn, Main Street Program Director. “Throughout this year we have been using the previous logo of the Main Street program from 30 years ago, but knew this was a place holder.
“From the start, we knew we wanted to showcase a new logo that represents all of the things we love about our downtown. In addition to a new logo, we are launching a brand new website!
“This is very exciting because it allows our community, region, and even tourists to learn more about downtown,” Washburn continued. “The website will have a downtown directory of the 140+ businesses we have downtown. It will have a map to highlight our points of interest and public parking.
“Community members will also find a downtown community calendar and more information about Main Street!”
Washburn further added that it was important to have a visual representation of the downtown to showcase to the community and beyond. The new logo will help to promote what Downtown Elizabethton truly is and what the town has to offer.
The logo will be used in such places as the new website, social media, merchandise, throughout downtown, and many other things that are planned on being shared later on.
To gather ideas of what should go into the logo, there was a survey sent out and out of that survey, there were 450 responses from the community.
Those responses helped to develop a picture of why downtown Elizabethton is important to the community and gave data that helped guide the program in developing its Strategic Plan as well as the new website.
So in essence, the logo is a product of a year of research, community input, state and national Main Street program guidance, and direction from the Elizabethton Main Street Board of Directors and five active working committees.
Washburn believes much will be accomplished by unveiling a new logo to represent the Elizabethton downtown.
“Our new logo showcases what makes us unique, such as our beautiful mountain landscape, natural Doe River flowing through downtown, and our beautiful and unique downtown architecture,” she said. “We hope this new logo, along with the website, helps elevate our downtown.
“It will allow us to have more visibility and promotion opportunities. It allows us to showcase all of our wonderful downtown merchants, the variety of shops, the friendly community, and the fun experience of being downtown.”
After collecting all the input from the many different sources, Washburn said that Main Street worked with Cumberland Marketing to create and capture the beauty and charm of the downtown community as the Main Street Board of Directors and the Promotions Committee provided feedback and input throughout the creation process.
Washburn invited everyone on Monday, Sept. 21, to visit Downtown Elizabethton on Facebook or Instagram on social media to see the full reveal of the logo and to browse through Main Street Elizabethton’s new website.
