Georgia Carden, 88, of Elizabethton, Tenn., passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Hermitage Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late William Adkins and Pauline Matherly Adkins.
Georgia enjoyed shopping and working word search puzzles. She was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine Carden; daughter, Lori Ann Bowers; great-grandson, Preston Hampton; and several brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memories include her two children, Rick Adkins and wife Vickie, and Tammie Carden, all of Elizabethton; a brother, Roy Adkins and wife Sue of Mountain City; five grandchildren, Christopher, Kelly, Jerry, Derick, Markita and Breanna; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Georgia Carden will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, in the Sunset Chapel at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Brother Roy Adkins to deliver the eulogy and Pastor Budd Malone officiating. Music will be provided by Linda Trivette. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may also call at the home of the son, Rick Adkins, at other times. A graveside service and interment will be held Thursday, October 1, at 11 a.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section). Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carter County and Washington County are mandating that all citizens who live in or visit the counties wear masks in public. In keeping in accordance with this mandate, all visitors to the funeral home and/or the graveside are required to wear a mask or facial covering and observe social distancing recommendations.
