Milligan cancels undergraduate classes on Oct. 14

MILLIGAN — Milligan University will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 14, in recognition of World Mental Health Day and to reduce the stress and fatigue that COVID-19 adds to the fall semester. On Oct. 14, all undergraduate classes will be canceled and university offices will be closed.
World Mental Health Day, officially on Saturday, Oct. 10, is an international day for mental health education, awareness and advocacy.
“This day off is provided as a small way to say thank you to our students, faculty and staff for their diligence in following safety protocols,” said Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “My hope is this day provides an opportunity for the Milligan community to get mental, physical and spiritual rest as we enter the second half of the semester.”
While undergraduate classes and student learning activities will not meet, students with scheduled educational activities in the community still need to attend these requirements. These activities include clinical rotations, student teaching, internships or service learning hours.
Graduate programs will determine whether classes will meet as usual or will modify their schedule.
While classes are canceled, students and employees must continue to observe proper safety precautions and practices outlined in Milligan’s Return Home Fall Plan, including social distancing and wearing a facial covering.
Members of the Milligan community in need of professional, short-term mental health counseling services can contact Milligan’s Counseling Center.
