Wilma Jean Collins Elliott, 91, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020, at Courtyard Assisted Living, Johnson City.
A native of Carter County, she was born September 29, 1929 to the late Ollie and Dessie Nave Collins. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and Steed College.
Wilma Jean and Howard were married May 21, 1948. She was a member of Lynn Valley Baptist Church. Her hobby was her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Howard Elliott, who passed away February 23, 2005, and by five brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her children, Jeannie Hagaman, High Point, N.C., and Russell “Rusty” Elliott, Elizabethton; her granddaughter, Gina Leigh Hagaman (Wesley Teague), Thomasville, N.C.; a great-grandson, Quintin Elliott Teague; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Edna Mann; and her sisters-in-law, Wylmetta Buckles and Geraldine Brooks (Ray).
The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 15, in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Smitley officiating. Interment will follow the service. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home from 2 until 5 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Elliott to Lynn Valley Baptist Church, 1367 Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or the Alzheimers Foundation, 202 Meadowview Parkway, Suite 100, Kingsport, TN 37660. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Courtyard Assisted Living, Johnson City, the staff of Avalon Hospice, her church family and her deacon, Jon Byrd, and Pastor Dennis Wilson. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
