Nancy Sue Shipley Utsman, 77, of Bluff City, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord and her loved ones gone before on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at NHC Healthcare in Johnson City. Nancy was born in Carter County, Tenn., to the late Melvin and Sarah Blevins Shipley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Wayne Utsman, on August 1, 2020, and by three brothers and three sisters.
Nancy had worked as a housekeeper at Bristol Nursing Home and was a member of East Side Christian Church of Elizabethton. She had also worked at Robinette Bagging and for North Electric. She was a member of the Ruritan Club and the Senior Citizens Center and was an avid Tennessee Lady Vols fan.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Janet (Stefan) Salyer of Piney Flats and Nikki Jamerson (Jody) of Bluff City; her grandchildren, Daniel Salyer (Brittany), Tabitha Salyer Boone (Daniel), Alesha Salyer Hamilton (Hunter), Colby Jamerson, Caleb Jamerson (Taylor) and Summer Jamerson; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at East Tennessee Funeral Home and Cemetery with Pastor Jamie Ferguson officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m. Saturday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road #6, PMB 321, Johnson City, TN 37604. The family respectfully requests that those attending the graveside service wear masks and that social distancing guidelines be observed at the graveside service.
