To the Editor:
It’s great the people of Elizabethton love their pets. We should do all we can to ensure that pets end up in the care of responsible and humane owners. The Bible says in Proverbs 12:10, “A good man regards the life of his animals: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.” It’s against the law to unjustifiably injure, maim, mutilate or kill any animal. Most would agree it should continue to be illegal. Why is it legal to maim, mutilate and kill a pain-sensitive unborn human baby but not an animal?
Those that love animals wouldn’t agree that how one treats his own pets should be his choice in the matter. If a candidate supported animal cruelty we would agree that his endorsement of the right to mutilate, maim and kill animals would disqualify him from every elected public office especially dog catcher.
In the same way the endorsement of the right to kill unborn babies should disqualify a person from any elected position or public office except that child-killing is more serious and evil than animal cruelty. The Bible says humans are much more valuable than animals. The Bible commands in Deuteronomy 30, “choose life!”
The Republican Party looks upon abortion as wrong. The Republican Party Platform says, “…we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm the unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed.” “We call for a permanent ban on federal funding and subsidies for abortion.”
The Democrat Party doesn’t look upon abortion as wrong and supports taxpayer funding for abortion. The Democrat Party Platform, “Calls for government funded abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy…” Planned Parenthood (Barrenhood) is a big supporter of the Democrat Party and endorsed Joe Biden for president. The U.S. Supreme Court will not outlaw abortion but could and should say abortion is a state issue and each state most decide if abortion is legal.
People have shed tears for the abuse of animals. Where are the tears for the unborn? You can’t change the fact that abortion is the most violent ongoing evil in America. The major media is a strong supporter of abortion. Some even have rejected paid pro-life ads. No child is unwanted, Jesus wants and loves them. Two million want to adopt. Some have called me a single issue voter. I thank them. A single issue is of the most importance to God and it should be to Christians. In the Old Testament we read for one issue Adam and Eve got driven out of Eden and broke their relationship with God. In the New Testament we read that Jesus alone gives eternal life and a relationship with God the Father. John 17:4 “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent!”
