VFW Post 2166 will host a Marsh Regional Blood Center for a blood drive Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. The Post will also have a short Veterans Day recognition. The Blood Drive will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and those wishing to donate blood are asked to call Marsh Blood Center at 423-282-7090 to make an appointment to give. Walk-ins are also accepted.
The Post and Auxiliary are also doing a food distribution with Second Harvest Food Bank for veterans and their families that need assistance Friday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. The event will be held at the VFW Post at 2001 West Elk Ave. Those coming to the food distribution are asked to have room in their trunk for the food box and to pop their trunk once they arrive in the line at the post. They can remain in their car and the food box will be loaded for them. The food distribution will be done with no person to person contact to protect each person’s health.
Second Harvest has requested we provide them with an approximate number of food boxes needed so please call David Batchelder at the Carter County Veterans Service Office at 542-1824 to sign up if you plan to come for the food distribution.
If you were on the list last month you don’t need to call again. This will help ensure there is adequate food available.
