Henrietta Hughes Chaney, 78, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2020, from Hillview Health and Rehab Center of Elizabethton. Henrietta was born in Roan Mountain, Tenn., to the late Pierce and Kate Greer Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Milton Chaney, and a sister, Deborah Lynn Hughes.
Henrietta was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother and friend to all! She was a member of Valley Forge United Methodist Church and was very active in her church until recently when her health declined. Henrietta was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and being part of her quilting group at church. Most of all she loved her family, her church and church family and her time spent with them.
Those left to cherish her memory include two children, Sara McNure and husband Linwood of Statesboro, Ga., and Pam Hoffee and husband Tom of Barnesville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Garrett Hoffee and Abigayle Hoffee, both of Barnesville, Ga., and Samuel McNure of Statesboro, Ga.; a sister, Mary Lou Street and husband Jimmy of Elizabethton; and a sister-in-law, Jean Childress and husband Tom of Laurens, S.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive, as well as a host of special friends and neighbors.
