MILLIGAN — Milligan University’s admissions office announced that the university’s priority scholarship deadline for prospective students has been moved from Dec. 1 to Jan. 15. This delay aims to allow college applicants more time to complete an application and still be considered for institutional scholarships.
“We are seeing a national trend where students are delaying college applications because of COVID-19 anxiety and a lack of access to standardized tests,” said Kristin Wright, director of admissions at Milligan. “These factors are important in the college application process, and our goal is to provide students with more time as they make this critical decision for their futures.”
By applying to Milligan by Jan. 15, applicants will be automatically considered for academic merit scholarships and need-based aid. Jan. 15 also serves as the deadline for Milligan’s competitive scholarships such as the Jeanes Honors Scholarship and Goah Scholarship, among others.
The admissions office previously announced that the submission of ACT or SAT exam scores will be an optional part of the application process for the 2021 school year. To be considered for admission without a test score, students will be required to submit a writing sample and a description of high school involvement.
Milligan continues to be ranked among the best regional universities in the South and a top value. The university offers more than 100 majors, minors, pre-professional degrees and concentrations in a variety of fields, along with graduate programs.
In addition, the university’s tuition increase for the 2021-2022 academic year will be the lowest in 30 years, only increasing by 1.49% for the next academic year. As 99% of students at Milligan receive some form of aid, the net cost students actually pay is considerably less than Milligan’s sticker price.
