James Gordon Denning Ward (Denny), 77, of Hampton, Tenn., passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020. He was the son of the late Gordon and Mary Alice Ward.
Denny worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 41 years as an Entomologist. Denny was considered a highly respected forest health specialist that allowed him to live and travel extensively around the world until his retirement in 2010.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Deborah Carnes Ward.
He is survived by his three children, Matthew Ward of Charlotte, N.C., Mikaela Ladd of Jefferson, Ga., and Angela Sawyer of Oxford, Ga.; five grandchildren, Joshua Sawyer, Jacob Voigt, Jared Voigt, Jay Dailey and Jessica Voigt; and two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Bailey Sawyer.
A service to honor the life of James Gordon Denning Ward will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. Jeremiah McClain, minister, officiating. The graveside service and committal will be held following the service on Wednesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Johnson City, Tenn. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
