To the Editor:
This was said 79 years ago on December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor: “Our ships were mighty…our men were strong and brave…but we had no warning.” President Franklin D. Roosevelt termed it as “a date that will live in infamy.” Over 2400 killed at Pearl Harbor and 19 U.S. Navy ships damaged or destroyed.
Nineteen years ago on September 11, 2001, history repeated itself and America was attacked again from the air without warning by 19 hijackers with 19 box cutters. September 11 became a second day that will live in infamy. Yet, most aren’t ready for the next attacks. We don’t learn from history. According to www.worldweekend.com, “Russia has admitted in defense journals that they have plans for a Pearl Harbor 2.0 style attacks on U.S. ships on both coasts.” Also, the website says Iran has hundreds of terror cells in America ready to cut all the electric power off that could kill millions. Christian Pastor Dana Coverstone had dreams of the electric power going off all over America and great lines of people to get food this winter. Hundreds have had rapture dreams and hundreds have heard trumpet sounds in the sky. This fall makes 400 years since the Mayflower Compact when the colonies agreed to work for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith! Also happening on December 21, 2020, is the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn that only happens every 400 years.
The Bible in Ecclesiastes 1 does say history repeats itself. Dr. John McTernan said Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005, during the homosexual event called “Southern Decadence.” McTernan said, Hurricane Isaac hit New Orleans seven years later on August 29, 2012, during the same homosexual celebration event. When the people of Moses did evil, 3000 died. At 9/11 about 3000 died in the first judgment on America. Strangely 19 years after 9/11 we have COVID-19 hurting our economy, hurting our churches and families and wreaking havoc upon our American way of life. We are seeing a pattern of nineteen. As 2 Timothy 3 says the last days are characterized by sinfulness and perilious (dangerous) times, but on the bright side Jesus is on the way!
Ezekiel 38:11 says Russia attacks the “land of unwalled villages.” Most in the past believed this is Israel, but some now believe because Israel has more walls than any country, that it is talking about America which is allied with Israel. In Revelation 18 which talks about the fall of Babylon, most think this is probably America. Revelation says, “for in one hour is she made desolate.”
Everyone lowered their flags and patriotism was high after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. However, while patriotism is good only by lowering ourselves (humility) and prayer to and trust in Jesus, can we as individuals and as a nation be saved. Just as our country was attacked twice without warning, so can our lives be ended quickly and unexpectedly. The lessons of the attacks show the need to have good intelligence information and be prepared militarily and most importantly the need to be prepared spiritually for death. Experts say another attack isn’t a matter of if but when! “Prepare to meet your God!”
Many are attracted to the historic. Locally, we love our historic covered bridge. We like to go to historic sites like Pearl Harbor and the 9/11 museum. God invites us to “remember the former things of old” but know that “I am God and there is none like me.”(Isaiah 46) God is in control of all history and though God will allow great evil because of our misuse of the gift of freewill, history will be redeemed. The most important history to remember is marked by the Holy Communion or Lord’s Supper. If you aren’t ready to take it then you aren’t ready to meet your God! Christians overcome by the blood of Jesus and our testimony!
