To the Editor:
I’m writing on behalf of the Election Commissioners, office staff, and myself to thank the Elizabethton Police Dept. and Chief Jason Shaw for their help with the traffic and crowd control every day at the end of early voting and patrol on Election Day; the Carter County Sheriff’s Dept. and Sheriff Dexter Lunceford for working with us and for the privilege of utilizing the trustees’ help (thanks trustees!) with the heavy lifting duties; Carter County Constables for their extra patrol during early voting and Election Day security of the Election Office and polling locations for the Carter County voters; EMT for their several calls during early voting, EMA and Mayor Patty Woodby for fixing the sidewalks at last minute’s notice and sending chairs over for voters to help with the long lines; and the Courthouse Maintenance workers for spraying the industrial disinfectants and cleaning every morning with extra precautions each day for safety and of course the USPS, especially Dave Brown, the Elizabethton Post Master, for going the extra mile to make sure we even received the ballots deposited on Election Day.
Lastly, THANK YOU to each machine technician, extra office helper, and early voting/poll workers that helped with the 2020 election cycle during this pandemic. Each and every one of you are our heroes and we couldn’t do this without you!!
God Bless each of you and may God Bless America.
