Reader: Keep the street name Rogosin Drive

To the Editor:
I ask Mayor Curt Alexander and the Elizabethton City Council to keep the street name Rogosin Drive. It is one of the streets in the neighborhood around Elizabethton High School, and is named after Israel Rogosin. Mr. Rogosin was an extra role model for students everywhere and of every time and age.
We are in the middle of a pandemic, and we should be doing everything we can do to honor our healthcare heroes. Mr. Israel Rogosin was a healthcare hero.
I encourage everyone to go online and learn everything they can about Mr. Rogosin. He was a generous benefactor to the City of Elizabethton and the United States of America and the nation of Israel. Our city’s leaders are always always saying that they want to bring more manufacturing jobs to Elizabethton. Mr. Israel Rogosin was a manufacturer and a creator of jobs right here in Elizabethton. It would be good if we had more people like him.
Some people are trying to take his name away from Rogosin Drive and name it for somebody else instead. But the problem is that Mr. Dave Rider already has the football field at T.A. Dugger Junior High School named for him. We don’t need to take the honor from Mr. Rogosin and give it to somebody else. People who have been given an honor should keep it.
We should honor and celebrate and remember Israel Rogosin. He deserves the honor.
I encourage everyone to go online to the website for the City of Elizabethton. Find the phone numbers and email addresses for our mayor and city council. Tell them to keep the name Rogosin Drive. Keep it forever.

Sincerely
Jackson Edwards
Elizabethton
