Darrell Delano Walsh, 84, Elizabethton, passed away on November 17, 2020, at the James H. Quillen Veteran’s Medical Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
Mr. Walsh was born in Butler, Tenn., to the late Dana and Mae Walsh. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Walsh; a grandson, Matthew Walsh; a brother, Dana Walsh Jr.; and a sister, Ruth White.
Mr. Walsh served in the U.S. Navy, Navy Reserves, and National Guard. He retired from Sycamore Shoals Hospital after 20 years of faithful service in the maintenance department; he was their Employee of the Year in 1989. He was a member of Fellowship Community Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Rethia Walsh; a son, Rick Walsh; a daughter, Kimberly Jenkins; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Walsh. He is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Harold (Linda) Walsh and Gregory (Linda) Walsh; his sister, Dorthy Little; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, December 14, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at Mountain Home Cemetery at 2:45 p.m. Monday. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
