Roy Edward Whaley, 78, Butler, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020, at his residence.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Ralph and Beatrice Ward Whaley.
Roy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was employed for over 30 years at Amerace Microporous Products. Roy loved to read, make arrowheads and spend time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Whaley.
Survivors include his children, Johnny Whaley, Elizabeth (Eric) Garland, Alice Whaley,  Sharon Wright, Chelsey Frances and Nicole Gill; his grandchildren, Bryson Garland, Norah Garland, Ella Mick, Zachariah Whaley, Amelia Mick, Isaiah Vines, Timothy Clawson, Easton Frances and Oakley Frances; one great-grandchild, Brayden Vines; and his sister, Roma Waycaster.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, in the Lakeview Cemetery, Butler, with the Rev. Sam Icenhour officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Judy Vines Crisp. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
