East Tennessee State University’s Office of Professional Development will offer its three-month Pharmacy Technician Certification Training Course starting Feb. 2.
The class, which is limited to 13 in-person students and also offers a remote option, will train participants to assist pharmacists in handling medications and serving patients. Those who pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination become nationally certified.
The course instructor is Cheryl Ollry, a pharmacy technician at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Ollry has over 15 years of experience in retail and hospital pharmacy.
Registration for the class is $400 and includes the textbook. The PTCB exam requires a separate fee of $129.
Class sessions will be held from 6-9 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from Feb. 2-April 29 on the ETSU main campus or online.  The course is non-credit and open to the general public.
To enroll, call 800-222-3878 or visit http://etsuaw.etsu.edu and click on “Program” and then “Health Care.”  For disability accommodations, call the ETSU Office of Disability Services at 423-439-8346.
