The winners of the first Capturing Christmas contest featuring Christmas scenes from downtown Elizabethton have been selected.
The grand prize winner is Rebecca Pippin. Other winners are Tennessee Backroads Photography, Beth Laws, April Wade, Robert Lewis, Kristi Crow Smith and Jay Kay. The grand prize winner received a $100 VISA gift card and the other winners received a $50 VISA gift card provided by Northeast Community Credit Union.
The contest hosted by NCCU, City of Elizabethton Parks & Recreation Department, and Main Street Elizabethton, was created this year to offer a fun, interactive and safe opportunity for families to capture the magic of Christmas in downtown Elizabethton.
The contest was held from December 6-16. Community members were invited to submit photos on Facebook and Instagram featuring different downtown Elizabethton scenes using #DowntownElizabethtonChristmas.
Photo opportunities for the contest included Covered Bridge Park, downtown shopping, store window displays, a holiday beverage, downtown Christmas lights, the historic Fraser Fir, a Hallmark Christmas moment and downtown dining.
Each photo submitted on Facebook and Instagram using #DowntownElizabethtonChristmas counted as a separate entry.
