Winnie Julian McClain, 100, of Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in Ohio. Winnie was the daughter of the late Pleasant H. and Nellie Julian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. McClain; a son, Charles McClain; her sister, Georgia Pittman; and her brothers, Pete Julian, Howard Julian, Pierce Julian, Roy Julian, Evan Julian and Zeke Julian.
Winnie was born in Carter County. She had been employed with General Electric and was a homemaker. She was a member of Valley Forge Methodist Church.
Winnie went to live in Heaven on December 16, 2020. She was 100 years old. During her life she took great care of her family. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she spent much time preparing to ensure it was special for everyone. Her baking and decorating is something she has shared with her family and friends.
This past year Winnie celebrated her 100th Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc. She will now be celebrating her 1st in Heaven. Christmas was her first holiday. What a way to spend Christmas celebrating the birth of her Savior, Jesus, in Heaven.
Winnie spent much of her time over the years sewing. In her younger years she made most of the clothes that she wore and in the last few years she made quilts that she shared with her family members.
Winnie lived a life that set a great example for all she came in contact with. Her sweet, loving smile is what people will remember her by. Her family will remember the woman that loved them fiercely. Her unconditional love will forever be held dearly by all that loved her. Heaven gained an Angel and true hero.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John (Sherrill) McClain; her daughter, Bonnie (Robert) Fennessy; her grandchildren, Todd Benefiel, Scott Benefiel, Amy Piotrowski (McClain), Kelly Benefiel, Paul McClain, Brian McClain and Julie McClain; her great-grandchildren, Katie, Justin, Karly, Jake, Taylor, Brooke, Tatum, Tyler and Zachary; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
