The opening contest in girls action at T.A. Dugger Middle School’s gym between the host Jr. Lady Cyclone JV and Robinson from Kingsport started out like putting cold water on the stove to boil as it took several minutes of action before any signs of offensive life could be seen.
TAD took a 6-4 advantage to the locker room at the half before the action picked up in the second half with the Jr. Lady Cyclones recording a 26-14 victory.
Abby Guinn totaled four in the first half to pace the home team with Reagan May adding the other two points recorded in the first 12 minutes of play.
The Jr. Lady Cyclones finally found their offensive touch in the second half as Guinn, Jasy Shell, and Rylee May each netted four points to help their team pull away for good.
Robinson also helped TAD by scoring a couple of buckets in the second half on the wrong end of the court accounting for four of the 26 points.
For the contest, Guinn led all scorers with eight points in the win for the Jr. Lady Cyclones.
Shell, Reagan May, and Rylee May all finished with four points apiece.
