Jerry “Big Dogg” Debnam, 57, of Elizabethton, Tenn., gained his angel wings unexpectedly at home early Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
Jerry was born December 4, 1963 in Louisburg, N.C. Carolina Beach, N.C., where his father’s shop, Herbs BP, was located, is where he worked and lived most of his life. He knew everyone, would help anyone, and spent many of nights pulling vehicles out of the sand and off the north end.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jean and Herbert Debnam; his brother, Anthony Debnam; and his youngest son, Jerry “Termite” Debnam.
He is survived by his brothers, Billy Debnam and wife Nancy of Wilmington, N.C., and Cris Heath of Burgaw, N.C.; his children, son, Wesley Debnam and wife Keisha of Hampton, Tenn., and two daughters, Brandy Riddle and husband James of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Faith Tenney and husband Joshua of Atkinson, N.C.; the mother of his children, Tammy Smith of Hampton, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, Axxl, Haley, Brandon, Levi, Chloe, Takoma, Zayda, Grayson, Natalie and Tyson; an extended family and many friends.
A memorial will be held in his honor, Sunday, January 24, at his home for close friends and family.
