To the Editor:
The FOR THE PEOPLE Act (House Resolution 1 and Senate 1) would increase election security and voter participation, end partisan gerrymandering in Congress, end secret donations to politics and rein in Super PACs, close lobbyist loopholes, empower small donors through public financing and more. This would bring true representative democracy to our federal elections, a move supported by 87% of US voters — across BOTH major parties.
On the assumption that Senators Blackburn and Haggerty and Congresswoman Harshbarger care about a representative democracy in America, we insist that they co-sponsor and vote for this bill. If they do not; their actions have spoken of their true motivation — being in office with no responsibility to their constituents.
