To the Editor:
Keep Carter County Beautiful (KCCB) in Partnership with Keep Tennessee River Beautiful (KTnRB) had a successful Watauga Lake Cleanup this past Saturday. Special thanks to Kathleen Gibi of KTnRB along with a Grant from Volkswagen Corporation for organizing and hosting this event. Also, thank you Benny Lyons, Carter County Solid Waste Director, for supporting this event with two roll-off dumpsters!
Thanks to all the volunteers that braved the cold weather and water that made this event a great success!
Just remember that littering and illegal dumping along our roads and countryside ends up downstream and eventually into our rivers, lakes and oceans as shown in Saturday’s Lake Cleanup pictures. This type of behavior will and has a grave negative impact on our one and only environment!
