The City of Elizabethton offices will be closed Monday for the observance of Presidents’ Day.
Because of the closings, the garbage collection schedule for the week has been altered. Monday through Thursday will be collected one day late with Thursday and Friday being collected on Friday.
Also, because of the holiday, offices at the Carter County Courthouse will be closed, as will all state and federal offices. There will be no mail delivery Monday.
Carter County and Elizabethton City Schools will be closed Monday for the holiday. It will be a Professional Development Day for Elizabethton City School employees as will be Tuesday.
Also, most financial institutions in the city will be closed Monday.
Presidents’ Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February, commemorating the birthdays of President George Washington and President Abraham Lincoln.
