The Unaka Lady Rangers made the trip to Baileyton on Monday evening hoping to pull an upset on the North Greene Lady Huskies in the Class 1-A Region Tourney however it was the Lady Huskies that wanted to make sure that no such thing would happen especially in front of the home crowd.

Racing out to a 35-14 advantage at the intermission, North Greene cruised in the second half to a 71-44 win which brought the Lady Rangers season to an end and sets the stage for a Wednesday final against another Carter County team in Cloudland for the region title.

Shelby Davenport did most of the damage in the first half for North Greene scoring 13 points. Davenport got solid support from Haleigh Bernard who pitched in with 10 points.

Tara Whitehead led the Lady Rangers in the first half with four points. Lyndie Ramsey and Madison Rice contributed a three-pointer each while Macy Ensor and Mailey Guy totaled two points apiece in the first 16 minutes.

Even though the Lady Rangers finally got rolling offensively in the second half, it wouldn’t be enough to bring the team from Stoney Creek back from the early deficit.

Ramsey found her shooting groove in the final half as the sharpshooting sophomore scored 18 of her game-high 21. Whitehead and Kiki Forney finished the contest with seven points each.

For North Greene, three players hit for double figures led by Bernard’s 19 points. Brooklyn Anderson tossed in 17 while Davenport hit for 15 points.
