Somedays on the softball diamond, everything just clicks and the runs come like running water through an open spigot.

Such was the case on Tuesday at T.A. Dugger Jr. High where the Jr. Lady Cyclones finally got to play a game after having several cancellations and Coach Dustin White’s team took advantage of everything that the visiting Greeneville Lady Jr. Greene Devils were willing to give as TAD took a 22-2, three-inning victory over Greeneville.

When the Jr. Lady Cyclones weren’t ripping the laces off the softball, it was a lot like Christmas as the Lady Greene Devils pitching was walking several batters as well as hitting several Jr. Lady Cyclones with pitches to keep the bases juiced all three innings of play.

Lead-off batter Adrian Heading was perfect on the day going 3-for-3 with a base on balls thrown in as Heading used her speed to score all four times she was on base.

Third baseman Sadie Williams was 3-for-4 for TAD as she crushed two doubles and added a single to record four RBIs while scoring twice herself.

Lela Byrd also had a solid day at the plate as she tripled and doubled and was hit by a pitch twice. Byrd accounted for five RBIs and three runs scored.

Zoey Proffitt was 1-for-1 with a triple but was pegged twice as well in the two-hole and drew a walk. Her triple cleared the bags for three RBIs and she scored three runs as well.

The big inning for the Jr. Lady Cyclones came in the second inning when they scored 10 of their 22 runs.

While her team was pouring on the runs, Byrd was getting the job done in the pitching circle as she benefited greatly from the scoring barrage.

White’s defense was also playing rock-solid softball both in the outfield and infield.

Greeneville managed to push a couple of runs across in the second inning but that was it from an offensive standpoint as TAD was just too strong on this day.

The Lady Jr. Cyclones will have their hands full when they host the Liberty Bell Middle Lady Patriots at 4:30 pm on Thursday.
