Onza H. Johnson, age 104, of Roan Mountain, Tennessee departed this life for a better one on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.  She was the daughter of the late Weaver and Ethel Johnson Holtsclaw.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lincoln Johnson; five brothers: Orville, Voyd, Conley, Carmel and Dana Holtsclaw; four sisters: Verna Hughes, Beulah Hughes, Renolee Whitehead and Norma Birchfield; and her stepmother, Nettie Edney Holtsclaw.

Onza retired from Cannon Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper and was a member of Burbank Freewill Baptist Church.  Onza had an amazing work ethic and was a warm, sweet loving lady. 

Those left to cherish her many wonderful memories include many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly as well as many friends, whom she considered family including a few very special friends: Mary Odom, Mary Ruth Barnett, and Edna Filinger and a host of others that made her life more pleasant in her last days on this earth.

A service to honor the life of Onza H. Johnson will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 1, 2021, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain with Rev. Tull Oaks and Rev. Eddie McCallister, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Thursday.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 2, 2021, in the Johnson Crabtree Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.  Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Onza.
