Larry Dean Barnett, 74, of Roan Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Johnson City Medical Center. Larry was born to the late Norman Dallas and Willie Troutman Barnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Waits and Julia Barnett; maternal grandparents, Hez and Delia Troutman; and several aunts and uncles.
Larry was a member of Burbank Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from Charles A. Cannon Hospital. He enjoyed collecting watches, watching wrestling on TV, listening to gospel music and staying in touch with everyone on Facebook.He enjoyed collecting watches, watching wrestling on TV, listening to gospel music and staying in touch with everyone on Facebook.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Betty Barnett, of the home; two sons, Tim Barnett and wife Shelia, and Tracy Barnett, all of Roan Mountain; four grandchildren, Riley Barnett of Roan Mountain, Kailey Phillips, Kaydance Barnett and Kade Barnett, all of Spruce Pine, N.C.; two sisters, Shirley Street and husband JD of Johnson City, Tenn., and Janet Largent and husband Clarence of Hampton, Tenn.; one niece, Tandy Bradley of Hampton, Tenn.; three nephews, Travis Largent and wife Debbie of Hampton, Tenn., Tim Street and wife Karen of Johnson City, Tenn., and Todd Street and wife Rebecca of Johnson City, Tenn.; and two special friends, Rob and Toni Miller of Elizabethton, Tenn.
The service to honor the life of Larry Dean Barnett will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain-Rhododendron Chapel, with Pastor Wesley Duncan, Rev. Randy English and Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Music will be provided by his niece, Tandy Bradley. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5 until 7 p.m. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Troutman Forbes Cemetery, Roan Mountain, Tenn. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:50 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Tim Street, Todd Street, Travis Largent, Rob Miller, James Boone and Larry Gouge. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Burbank Freewill Baptist Church Youth Group,135 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, TN 37687.
