In just 24 days, seniors at Elizabethton High School will do something that they have worked extremely hard to accomplish and that will be walking across the stage at Citizens Bank Stadium, receiving their high school diplomas, and being pronounced as graduates in the Class of 2021.

For some, the day couldn’t come soon enough and for others, it flew by and now they must prepare to enter a different arena in life.

Parents and grandparents are scurrying to prepare for graduation parties all the while wondering where 12 to 14 years of school have gone for the child they once carried in their arms as babes.

This year’s graduation ceremony will be held on the football field inside Citizens Bank Stadium, unlike last year when the ceremony was conducted in the school’s student parking lot and the graduates had to watch on a large screen as their friends crossed the stage and were presented their diplomas while family and friends honked on their car horns to acknowledge their graduates.

The EHS Graduation Ceremony is slated for Saturday morning May 22, 2021, at 10 am.

There is some important information for family and friends to be made aware of ahead of that special morning.

Each graduate will receive five admission tickets for reserved seating and parents have between April 27th and May 14th from 7:30 am to 3 pm to pick up these tickets in the school’s front office.

Seating the morning of the ceremony will begin at 9 am and everyone is asked to be seated promptly by 9:55 am to allow the graduation to begin promptly at 10 am.

This year, there will also be general admission seating available for guests without a ticket until capacity is reached and this seating will also begin at 9 am.

The general admission seating will be behind the stage and will have limited viewing.

Handicapped and elderly seating will be provided in the endzones behind the graduates on the football field. This area will only be accessible for those who are unable to navigate the stadium steps.

The ceremony will be videotaped and a graduation video will be produced for the Class of 2021. The video is free of charge and will be uploaded to the student’s ecschools.org email.

Most graduates are ecstatic that graduation can be conducted outdoors on the football field allowing for more people to attend and be able to see as they receive their diploma signifying that they have completed a major milestone in their young lives.
