   Veryl Norris “Grandma” Hopson, 93, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021, in the Hermitage Health Center.  A native of Roan Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Bynum & China Church Norris. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Melbourne and Beryl Norris and two sisters: Glayds McCracken and Wanda Reeser. She was a graduate of Cloudland High School.  She operated Grandma’s Day Care for a number of years. Veryl was a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton.  She loved to sew and loved to work with her flowers.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Henry Hopson and a grandson: Kevin Arney.
       Survivors include her Children: Linda & Ken Arney, Clara & Tom Ingram and John & Katrina Hopson all of Elizabethton.  Four Grandchildren: Blake Hopson and wife Carrie, Jaycee Hopson, Colbie Hopson, Amy Estep and husband Ihab El-Shinnawy. Four Great Grandchildren.
     Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the family will have a private service Saturday at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Greg Key Minister officiating. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Amedisys Hospice for the excellent care she received.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice or the donor’s favorite charity.  Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memolrialfcelizabethton.com.
