According to Sheriff Ed Graybeal, Investigators with the Washington County Tennessee Sheriff’s Office recently began an investigation into an alleged child neglect situation. During the investigation, evidence was found that 83 year old Mack E. Bowman of Johnson City Tennessee had sexually assaulted a victim who is less than ten years of age. It was also learned that Bowman had sold narcotics to the victim’s mother. Last week Investigators presented the findings of the investigation to a Washington County Grand Jury. The Grand Jury subsequently returned a True Bill charging Bowman with 2 counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery (victim under 13) and 2 counts of Sale of Schedule II. On Wednesday, May 19, Bowman turned himself into the Washington County Detention Center where he is currently being held on a 25,000 dollar bond. Bowman is scheduled to appear in Washington County Criminal Court during the next court term.
