Saturday was filled with music, food, and crafts at the Roan Mountain State Park as the Rhododendron Festival returned after a year’s absence due to the pandemic.

Visitors enjoyed just being out on a beautiful day as festival-goers took advantage of numerous craftsmen who had set up their wares to sell while family and friends enjoyed such delights as fresh lemonade, kettle popcorn, homemade ice cream, and Auntie Ann’s pretzels and doughnuts along with several other food items.

Music lovers brought their lawn chairs and found either a shady spot under one of the numerous trees around the park’s amphitheater or on the benches near the stage.

The biggest thing that was evident, however, was everyone’s smiles as they just enjoyed being back on Roan Mountain attending the festival put on by the Roan Mountain Citizens Club.
