The body of a missing man recovered in Roan Mountain Saturday morning. 

65-year-old Thomas Hastings was found deceased by members of the Carter County Rescue Squad around 9:45 a.m. Investigators from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office were notified and took over the scene.

Hastings went missing from his home on July 1. The Sheriff’s Office was notified of his disappearance on the evening of July 3 and began to search for him that night. 

The body will be sent to Quillen College of Medicine’s Forensic Center. At this point, investigators believe the death was accidental but will await official autopsy results.
