Jackie Stephen Rhea, 73, Hampton, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Signature Health Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late B.S. and Elizabeth McAmis Rhea.
Jackie was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. Jackie was a retired Master Locksmith & Carpenter. He retired from ETSU as a Locksmith and was a member of Powder Branch Baptist Church.
Jackie loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason B. Rhea, and a sister, Rada Dale Osborne.
Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Rhea; a grandson, Brandon Rhea; and his daughter-in-law, Melanie Rhea.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (New Section, 215 Heroes Drive), Johnson City. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of ICU, Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va., and the staff of Signature Health. Military Honors will be provided by V.F.W. Post 2108. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wynnwood Wildlife Rehab Center, 150 Cecil Estep Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday.
