To the Editor:
In August 2019 the Randy Boyd Foundation Dog Park Dash presented Carter County with a $25,000 grant to be used for a dog park. News media indicated the park would be developed in the Gap Creek/Mary Patton Highway area.
Two years later there is yet no dog park. Where is the money? Any use of the money by the county other than the dog park would be misappropriation of grant funds.
Does it take two years to construct a dog park? I hope the Boyd Foundation follows up on these grants to make sure they are appropriately spent. It would be nice for dog owners to have a place to take their pets for exercise and to play which is what Dog Park Dash is about.
